How Long Does an AC Last?
On average, you can expect an air conditioner to last for anywhere between 10 and 15 years. A unit that is very well cared for between homeowner maintenance and professional service may last longer than 15 years. However, the 15-year mark is when we recommend that you consider a replacement.
Even if your unit is still operating very well, it is becoming outdated compared to the air conditioners that we are installing today. Upgrading to a newer model can offer you peace of mind and also save you money on energy efficiency costs.
Why Is My AC Loud During Operation?
If your air conditioner has always been louder than usual, it may be too large for the size of your home. If an air conditioner is not properly sized, the airflow can be very loud during operation because of the extra power. If your air conditioner is suddenly making loud noises when it usually doesn’t, that indicates a malfunction of some sort.
You can call our team and talk to someone about the particular sounds that you’re hearing so we can help you troubleshoot over the phone or schedule an appointment to get to the bottom of the problem. Don’t ignore any sound coming from your air conditioner if you think it is unusual.
Why Are My Energy Costs So High?
If you get an energy bill that is higher than normal, it’s easy to think that your air conditioner is to blame. This is a good assumption to make since your air conditioner is one of the larger appliances consuming energy in your home. An AC malfunction can cause the unit to consume more energy than normal ultimately costing you more on your monthly energy bill.
If you have suspicions, compare your current energy bill to both recent ones and even energy bills from the same time last year. This can help you determine if you are using more energy than you were at the same time of the year. If you still have concerns, you can give our team a call for us to check out your air conditioner.
Remember, AC problems are not always loud or obvious at first. It’s very possible that your AC is quietly malfunctioning and consuming more energy than normal. Our team of experts can get to the bottom of any problem and fix whatever is wrong so your air conditioner can operate efficiently once again.
Why Is My AC Leaking?
AC leaks can mean that your condensate drain line is clogged. The drain line is where droplets of moisture drain outside of your home after condensing down from humidity in the air. This condensate drain line is fairly small and very prone to clogs.
If you aren’t rinsing the condensate drain line out with vinegar, clogs are even more likely to happen. Dust can get trapped in the line and mold can develop thanks to the moisture in a dark space. Our team can break down the clog causing a backup and then talk to you about cleaning the drain line monthly to prevent future clogs.
